Mahatiktaka Ghrita

An enhanced bitter medicated ghee considered therapeutically superior to Tiktaka Ghrita, used for skin diseases and pitta disorders.

Mahatiktaka Ghrita — Overview

Mahatiktaka Ghrita is an enhanced version of Tiktaka Ghrita containing a much larger bitter herb complex — Saptaparni, Parpataka, Aragwadha, Katuka, Vacha, Triphala, Padmaka, Patha, Haridra, Daruharidra, two types of Sariba, Pippali, Gajapippali, Nimba, Chandana, Yashtimadhu, Indrayana moola, Indrayava, Guduchi, Kiratatikta, Usira, Vasa, Murva, Shatavari, Patola, Ativisha, Mustha, Trayanthi and Dhanvayasa — as Kalka.

It is prepared with Suddha Ghrita using water (8 parts) and Amalaki rasa (2 parts) directly as the Drava Dravya, without first preparing a Kashaya. Therapeutically it is considered superior to Tiktaka Ghrita for skin diseases and other pitta-dominant disorders.
