Menstrual Channels
The channel system governing female reproduction, ojas production, and emotional release through the ovaries, uterus, and reproductive passages.
Artava Vaha Srotas: The Channel for Female Reproductive Tissue
The channel carrying nutrients for the female reproductive tissue, the ova, is called artava vaha srotas. Its mula (root) is the ovaries and areola of the nipples. The marga (passage) includes the fallopian tubes, uterus, cervical canal, and yoni (vaginal passage). The mukha (opening or mouth) is yoni oshtha (the labia).
The channel carrying ova contains more heat, more tejas, because the ova are hotter than the sperm. The byproducts of rasa dhatu—stanya (lactation) and rajah (menstruation)—are functionally related to artava vaha srotas. Reproduction and pleasure are functions of artava vaha srotas. Drinking a cup of hot milk at night immediately nourishes stanya in women through rasa dhatu agni.
