Rajah Vaha Srotas

The bodily channel system responsible for clearing the unfertilized ovum and preparing the uterus for the next cycle through menstruation.

Rajah Vaha Srotas: The Channel for Menstruation

Rajah vaha srotas and artava vaha srotas have structural confluence, but their functions and fields of action are different. The fields of action for artava vaha srotas are primarily the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the fundus of the uterus. Rajah vaha srotas is more connected to the fundus of the uterus, endometrium, cervical canal, and the vaginal passage.

The function of rajah vaha srotas is to clear away the unfertilized ovum and prepare the uterus for the next cycle. If fertilization does not occur, the endometrium begins to shed and bleed, leading to menstrual flow. Rajah vaha srotas matures at puberty and, when fertilization does not take place, it is responsible for menstruation. Rajah itself is a byproduct of rasa dhatu. After each menses, it creates a new endometrial lining. The old endometrial lining, along with the dead ova, are washed away by rajah vaha srotas.
