Overview
Patala is one of the herbs traditionally used in Ayurveda for inflammation. Patala (Stereospermum suaveolens) is another important member of the Dashamula (Brihat Panchamula) group. It is a medium-sized deciduous tree with fragrant flowers. The root bark is bitter and astringent. It is used primarily in combination with other Dashamula drugs for managing inflammatory conditions, respiratory disorders, and fevers. The flowers are notably fragrant and the root bark is the main part used in Ayurvedic formulations.
