Papaya: Ayurvedic Properties and Uses
Papayas are sweet, heating and have a sweet vipak. They calm down all three doshas, but pitta must use them in moderation, about once a week. Papayas are generally helpful for cough, asthma, liver and spleen dysfunctions. They help control worms. Papayas have enzymes that help with digestion. The juice is a blood thinner and can help to prevent heart attacks. Papayas contain natural estrogen and should not be taken during pregnancy.
