Sudarsana Choorna

A famous multi-herb powder with over 40 ingredients built around Kiratatikta (Kairata), used as a broad-spectrum antipyretic for all types of fever.

Sudarsana Choorna — Overview

Sudarsana Choorna is one of the most celebrated antipyretic (fever-reducing) powders in Ayurveda, built around Kiratatikta (Kairata) as the chief drug, with over forty supporting herbs including Triphala, Haridra, Daruharidra, Kantakari, Trikatu, Guduchi, Katuka, Mustha, Pippali, Chandana and Usira. The dominant herb Kiratatikta is taken in a quantity equal to half the combined total of all other ingredients.

It is administered internally with cold water and is traditionally said to work against all types of fever — including single-dosha, dual-dosha, seasonal, intermittent, Sannipata, Manasika and chronic fevers — as well as associated complications like cough, asthma, anemia, heart disease, jaundice, thirst, confusion, drowsiness and pain in the back, flanks, hips and knees. The classical verse likens its action to the Sudarsana Chakra: just as the discus of Vishnu destroys demons, this powder destroys fevers of every kind.
