Naracha Churna

A potent purgative powder attributed to Lord Vishnu, administered with different anupanas for a wide range of digestive and systemic disorders.

Naracha Choorna — Overview

Naracha Choorna is a powerful purgative formulation traditionally said to have been given by Lord Vishnu. It contains Vidanga, Danti, Trivrit, Visala, and Satala in specified proportions. The same formula is cited in Bhavaprakasa, Sarangadhara Samhita, Vagbhata Samhita, and Chakradatta.

Its unique feature is that the indication depends on the anupana (vehicle): buttermilk for abdominal disorders, Badari decoction for abdominal tumors, Sura for vata obstruction, curd water for constipation, Dadima rasa for hemorrhoids, Vrikshamla for parikartika, and warm water for indigestion. After oleation therapy, it is used for Virechana in fistula-in-ano, anemia, cough, asthma, heart disease, malabsorption, skin diseases, weak digestion, fever, and various forms of poisoning.
