Mahakalyanaka Ghrita
A reinforced version of Kalyanaka Ghrita with added Riddhi, Meda, Kakoli, Kapikacchu and Mudgaparni group herbs; therapeutically considered superior to Kalyanaka Ghrita.
Mahakalyanaka Ghrita — Overview
Mahakalyanaka Ghrita is the reinforced version of Kalyanaka Ghrita. To the 21 base drugs of Kalyanaka (from Sariba to Chandana) it adds the Kalka of Riddhi and Buddhi, Meda and Mahameda, Kakoli and Kshira Kakoli, Kapikacchu, Avartani and the Mudgaparni-Mashaparni pair, cooked with a decoction of those drugs and four times its volume of cow's milk.
The text explicitly notes that therapeutically it is superior to Kalyanaka Ghrita, and it inherits the same indications — anemia, skin diseases, infertility, wasting, fever, mental disturbances and use in Pumsavana karma — with enhanced rejuvenative potency from the added Ashtavarga-like herbs.
