Kameswari Lehya
A comprehensive rejuvenative electuary prepared from Varahi, Yashtimadhu, Ashwagandha, Bala, Satavari and numerous tonic herbs used as a Rasayana for vitality, virility, and tridoshic disorders.
Kameswari Lehya — Overview
Kameswari Lehya is an elaborate rejuvenative electuary (Lehya) built on a Chaturdhavasishta Kashaya of nourishing herbs — Varahi (Varahikanda), Yashtimadhu, Draksha, Ashwagandha, Devadaru, Bala, Punarnava, Ushira, Chandana, Bharangi, Gokshura, Vidari, Tila and Masha. The decoction is combined with jaggery, sugar, sugarcane juice and the fresh juices of Amalaki, Satavari, Kadali (banana) and Kushmanda, then finished with aromatic Prakshepa dravyas including Ela, Lavanga, Jatiphala, Kumkuma, Shilajatu, Triphala, Trikatu and Kasturi.
It is administered in the early morning and evening as a comprehensive tonic. Classical indications include tridoshic Raktapitta, cough, asthma, wasting, anemia, vomiting, bloating, abdominal tumors, pain, hiccup, heart disease, hemorrhoids, grahani, urinary difficulty, stones, and diabetic disorders. It is revered as a Sreshta Rasayana — giving strength, nourishment, virility, and longevity — and is traditionally attributed to the Ashwini Kumaras.
