Guggulu Tiktaka Ghrita — Overview
Guggulu Tiktaka Ghrita combines a complex bitter-pungent Kalka of Patha, Vidanga, Devadaru, Gajapippali, Sarjakshara, Yavakshara, Sunthi, Haridra, Misi, Chavya, Kushta, Tejovathi, Maricha, Vatsaka, Dipyaka, Chitraka, Katukarohini, Bhallataka, Vacha, Pippali moola, Manjishta, Ativisha, Visha and Yavani (1 part each) with Suddha Guggulu (5 parts). The Drava Dravya is an Ashtamamsa Kashaya of Nimba, Guduchi, Vasa, Patola and Kantakari (10 pala each) boiled in water, added to 1 prastha of Ghrita.
It is described as the best formulation for Vataroga, including Sandhi Vata (joint disease), Asthigata Vata (bone disease) and Majjagata Vata, as well as Kushtha, Nadivrana, Arbuda (tumors), Bhagandhara (fistula), Gandamala, Gulma, Prameha, Yakshma, Swasa, Kasa, Hridroga, Panduroga and Vatarakta. When Guggulu is combined with Ghrita, its potency is enhanced and it acts as a tridoshanasaka, wound cleanser and healer.
