Causes of Excess Salivation
Excess salivation is a kapha disorder that can indicate too much kledaka kapha in the stomach or pancreatic dysfunction, which is a pre-diabetic condition. In adults, drooling during deep sleep can be an early warning sign of diabetes.
Excess salivation also occurs in Parkinson's disease and Bell's Palsy, both of which are vata disorders affecting the facial muscles. Conversely, fear, anxiety, and stress reduce saliva secretion, producing a dry tongue and poor taste perception.
