So'ham Mantra Meditation

A meditation chant meaning 'I am that pure consciousness' that quiets the mind and unfolds ojas into the soma state.

So'ham: I Am That

So'ham is a mantra often used in meditation to quiet the mind. In a sense, so'ham is soma. So'ham means: I am that pure consciousness; I am that pure awareness; I am that pure, eternal, witnessing consciousness.

A chattering mind becomes quiet by chanting the holy name of God. When a chant goes on and on, all your cells and all your molecules of ojas pick up that vibration and start pulsating with the rhythm. Then there is a chant without a chanter — an expansion of consciousness. In that state, the chant unfolds into soma. Chanting with love brings awareness and beauty; the holy name of God unfolds and showers soma upon you. You chant in dreams and in deep sleep — a chant without effort, which unfolds into effortless awareness.
