Sahaja Bala

Inborn resistance to infection that depends on the quality of ojas, as distinguished from acquired immunity through vaccination.

Natural vs. Acquired Immunity

Ayurveda distinguishes between natural (inborn) immunity and acquired immunity. Natural immunity is ojas-based — it arises from the quality of tissue metabolism, strong digestion, healthy liver function, and balanced endocrine activity. Acquired immunity, such as that obtained through vaccination, is external and does not constitute ojas. The strength of natural immunity determines the body's resilience against both internal causes of disease (repressed emotions) and external causes (environmental stressors), as well as whether an infection becomes acute, sub-acute, or chronic.
