Kaya Chikitsa: Ayurvedic Internal Medicine

Kaya chikitsa is Ayurvedic internal medicine — the treatment of diseases affecting body, mind, and consciousness. Kaya means body (from ka meaning earth and ya meaning circulation — "that in which nutrients circulate"), and chikitsa means therapy. Kaya chikitsa focuses centrally on the quality and status of agni, which performs the role of maintaining nutrient circulation in conjunction with the three doshas.
