Celibacy)

The practice of disciplined sexual activity that causes Creative Energy to accumulate within, essential for any degree of rejuvenation.

Brahmacharya: Reverence for Sexual Energy

Brahmacharya literally means that which brings you closer to the Creator. Yogis interpret this in a religious sense and follow the path of celibacy. Ayurveda interprets it to mean that which causes the Creative Energy of the universe to accumulate within you.

Many degrees of rejuvenation exist, but rejuvenation even to a minor degree is possible only when you discipline your sexual activity. Reverence for sex is the real significance behind the philosophy of sexual restraint.

The first step in any virilization program is absolute sexual chastity for a month or more. It takes at least a month for the body to rebuild its Ojas stores so that ahamkara can feel sufficiently secure within herself to permit another being to come into intimate contact with her.

Selective chastity — the practice of observing physical continence while actively fantasizing about sex — is useless. Sex is all in the brain; the continuous pressure of unresolved sexual thoughts is more detrimental to Ojas than is the physical loss of Ojas during the act.
