Food Sheath

The most basic sheath of the mind, equated with the physical body that needs food, water, and air.

Definition

Annamaya kosha literally means "the sheath made of food" and refers to the gross physical body. It is the outermost of the five koshas and is sustained directly by digested nourishment.
