Last updated:

Properties and Uses

Qualities: Anti-pitta

Actions: Laxative, blood purifier, anti-inflammatory, antitoxic

Yellow dock is a famous native of America. It has anti-pitta properties. It purifies the blood and is anti-inflammatory. Hence, it may be used for arthritis symptoms and the alleviation of pain, tenderness and redness.

It is also effective, used in tea form, for dermatitis, bleeding hemorrhoids and inflammatory eruptions on the neck and back and in the armpits.

Because of its antitoxic property, yellow dock purifies the blood and calms out-of-balance pitta. The root of this herb is useful for external application to ulcers, skin infections and poorly healed abrasions.
