Overview

Plaksha is one of the herbs traditionally used in Ayurveda for bleeding disorders. Plaksha (White Fig) is a large tree resembling the Banyan. The bark, latex, leaves and fruits are used medicinally. It is one of the Panchavalkala (five barks). Its properties and uses are similar to Vata (Banyan) and Udumbara. It is astringent, cooling and useful in Raktapitta, Yoniroga, and Vrana. The bark decoction is used in diarrhea, dysentery and bleeding disorders. Dose: Bark decoction 1-2 tola. Verses: 11-12.
