Cowrie Shell is one of the herbs traditionally used in Ayurveda for heartburn & acid reflux. Varatika (Cowrie Shell) Bhasma is used similar to Shankha Bhasma for digestive disorders and hyperacidity. It is milder in action compared to Shankha. Verses: 144-145.
