Visarpahara Kashaya

A decoction for erysipelas (Visarpa) with separate formulas for Vataja, Pittaja, and Kaphaja subtypes.

Visarpahara Kashaya — Overview

Visarpahara Kashaya is a decoction used in the treatment of Visarpa (erysipelas and spreading inflammatory skin conditions). The first formula combines Patola, Daruharidra, Nimba, Katukarohini, Trayantika, Yashtimadhu, Vasa and Mustha, with an alternative using Amalaki, Patola and Mustha.

The second formula is a triple-group preparation: group I (Mustha, Nimba, Patola, Devadaru, Haridra, Draksha, Bala, Sunthi) for Vataja Visarpa; group II (Trayanthi, Utpala, Dhanvayasa, Dhanika, Bhunimba, Usira, Hribera) for Pittaja Visarpa; and group III (Triphala, Nimba, Patola, Pippali) for Kaphaja Visarpa — allowing doshic targeting of the condition.
