Virechana Ghrita — Overview
Virechana Ghrita is a purgative medicated ghee used for therapeutic virechana. The Kalka Dravya is the same drugs as the kashaya, pounded with Gomutra (cow urine) one tola each. The Drava Dravya is a kashaya of Danti, Trivrit, Triphala, Indravaruni, Snuhi, Nilini, Tilvaka, Aragwadha, Kampillaka and Swarnaksheeri (Hemadugdha), prepared with 16 times water and reduced to one-fourth, along with cow's milk (1 prastha), cow's urine (1 prastha) and Snuhi latex (1 prastha).
It is indicated in Sarva Udara — all types of abdominal disorders including ascites, abdominal distension and chronic abdominal pathology that benefit from therapeutic purgation.
