Vidal Chitramooladi Kashaya

A decoction of Vidanga root, Chitraka, Sunthi, Tila, Palasa and Paribhadra bark used for abdominal tumors and gas.

Vidal Chitramooladi Kashaya — Overview

Vidal Chitramooladi Kashaya is a Kerala tradition decoction formulated for Gulma (abdominal tumors and obstinate gas). It combines Vidanga root, Chitraka (Plumbago) root, Sunthi (dry ginger), Tila (sesame), Palasa bark and Paribhadra bark.

The decoction is prepared from these herbs and administered internally along with Saindhava lavana (rock salt) and Hingu (asafoetida) as anupana, which enhance its carminative and anti-spasmodic action on the abdomen.
