Varahyadi Ghrita

A medicated ghee prepared with Varahikanda, Khadira, Jambu and Amra twak decoction used for gynecological disorders, administered internally and for Vasti karma.

Varahyadi Ghrita (ii) — Overview

Varahyadi Ghrita (ii) is a medicated ghee from the Ghrita Prakarana of Sahasrayogam, formulated for gynecological disorders. The Kalka (paste) contains an extensive list of herbs including Kapittha, Priyala, Dhanyaka, Dhanvayasa, Patha, Triphala, Pashanabheda, Rasanjana, Katphala, Sunthi, Mridwika, Raktachandana, Mocharasa, Manjishta, Padmakesara, Kutaja, Ananta, Dhataki, Madhooka, Dadima, Ativisha, Mustha, Lodhra, Bilwa, Pippali, Aswagandha, Sariba, Usira and Prapoundarika.

The Drava (liquid) component is a Chaturdhamsa Kashaya prepared from Varahikanda, Khadira, Jambu and Amra twak (each 20 pala), combined with Sunishanna juice, Kushmanda juice and cow's milk. Goghrita serves as the Sneha base. Prepared by standard Ghrita Paka method, it is administered internally with sugar and honey and also employed for Vasti karma (medicated enema) in the treatment of Yoniroga.
