Sukumara Ghrita — Overview
Sukumara Ghrita is a nourishing medicated ghee with a Kalka of Pippali, Pippali moola, Saindhava, Yashtimadhu, Draksha, Yavani and Sunthi (2 pala each) with jaggery (30 pala). Its Sneha combines 2 prastha of Ghrita with 1 prastha of Eranda Taila, and the Drava Dravya uses Punarnava (1 tula), Dasamoola, Aragwadha, Eranda, Shatavari, two types of Darbha, Sara, Kasa, Ikshu moola and Potagala (10 pala each) boiled down to Ashtamamsa Kashaya with added milk.
It is a powerful Vrishya and Vajeekara (aphrodisiac and virility tonic), promoting complexion, beauty and nourishment. It is indicated in Vriddhi, Vidradhi, Gulma, Arshas (hemorrhoids), Yoniroga (gynecological disorders), Vataroga, edema, Udara roga, splenomegaly and Vibandha (constipation). Patients should avoid long journeys, vehicle travel and exposure to sun and wind during treatment.
