Panduhara Kashaya

A decoction formulation used primarily for anemia (Pandu) and associated complications including jaundice, bleeding disorders, and edema.

Panduhara Kashaya — Overview

Panduhara Kashaya is a group of classical decoctions from Sahasra Yoga used primarily for anemia (Pandu) and its complications. The formulas employ herbs such as Punarnava, Nimba, Patola, Guduchi, Vasa, Triphala, Katuki, Bhunimba, Daruharidra and Haritaki — bitter, blood-purifying and hepatoprotective drugs.

Different formulas within the group address generalized swelling with fever, cough and difficulty breathing (first formula), anemia with bleeding disorders and jaundice (second formula administered with honey), iron-deficiency type presentations (third formula with Mandoora and jaggery), and advanced jaundice variants Kumbha Kamala and Halimaka when given with honey, pippali and shilajatu.
