Nasika Choorna

A medicated nasal powder processed with Jambeera, Langali and rose water, used as nasya for chronic rhinitis, sinus disorders and head tremors.

Nasika Choorna — Overview

Nasika Choorna is an elaborately prepared nasal powder used as nasya. The base contains Amalaki, Jeeraka, Mayurapincha kanda, Lavanga, Jatiphala, Japatri, Hribera, Usira, Kushta, Yashtimadhu and Kachora, plus sandalwood and tobacco leaf in equal quantity to all.

The powder is pounded successively with lemon juice, Langali phala decoction and rose water (drying in the shade between stages), then finished with Paccha Karpura, Sambrani and Kasturi. It is used for chronic rhinitis (Dushta Pinasa), head tremors (Sirokampa), heaviness of the head, Suryavarta (sun headache), head pain, foul breath and other disorders of the region above the clavicles.
