Masurikahara Kashaya

A decoction indicated for all 8 types of Masurika (smallpox/chickenpox-like eruptive fevers).

Masurikahara Kashaya — Overview

Masurikahara Kashaya is an Ashtabhagavasishta decoction (reduced to one-eighth) used to treat all eight types of Masurika (pox-like eruptive fevers such as smallpox and chickenpox). The first formula combines Jivanthi, Hribera, Triphala, Vasa, Guduchi, Sariba, Sunthi, Yashtimadhu, Mustha, Chandana, Patola, Usira and Nimba, administered with honey and jaggery.

The simpler second formula uses Sunthi, Bala, Nimba, Patola, Kushta, Dhanyaka and Amalaka given with honey. Together these drugs cool the blood, reduce fever and promote healing of eruptions.
