Mahodara Tavidvamadi Kashaya
A decoction of Punarnava, Haritaki, Aragwadha bark, Puti Karanja, Sunthi and Bhunimba used for ascites and abdominal disorders.
Mahodara Tavidvamadi Kashaya — Overview
Mahodara Tavidvamadi Kashaya targets Mahodara — gross abdominal distension and ascites. The decoction blends Punarnava (a key diuretic), Haritaki, Aragwadha bark, Chirubilwa (Puti Karanja), Sunthi and Bhunimba root.
These herbs mobilize fluid, open the channels of the abdomen and restore digestive fire — a classical Kerala approach to draining accumulated udaka from the peritoneal cavity.
