Maha Panchagavya Ghrita — Overview
Maha Panchagavya Ghrita is a potent medicated ghee distinguished by its use of Panchagavya — the five products of the cow. The Kalka Dravya is Bharangi, Patha, Adhaki, Trivrit, Danti, Trikatu, Rohisha, Murva, Bhutika, Bhunimba, Haritaki, the two Saribas, Madayanti, Chitraka and Vidula (one karsha each). The kashaya uses the two Panchamoolas, Triphala, Haridra, Daruharidra, Kutaja bark, Saptaparna, Apamarga, Nilini, Katurohini, Aragwadha, Pushkara, Jatamamsi, Kakoudambarika moola and Duralabha (two pala each). Each of the five Panchagavya components is added at 1 prastha.
It is indicated in a wide spectrum of disorders: Jwara (fever), Apasmara (epilepsy), Udara roga (abdominal disorders), Bhagandhara (fistula-in-ano), Sopha (edema), Arshas (hemorrhoids), Kamala (jaundice), Gulma (abdominal tumors), Kasa (cough) and Graha roga (psychiatric/possession-type disorders).
