Kutaja Phanita — Overview

Kutaja Phanita, formulated by Maharshi Bhela, is a concentrated preparation that uses all five parts of the Kutaja tree — seeds (10 pala), bark (8 pala), root (6 pala), flowers (4 pala) and leaves (2 pala) — decocted with 4 adhaka of water to one-fourth (Chaturdhamsa Kashaya).

The decoction is cooked with old jaggery and enriched with Trikatu, Mustha, Dhanyaka, Jambu Pallava, Amrasthi, Dadima twak, Vacha, Haritaki, Patha, Jatiphala, Ajaji, Hingula, Ativisha, Prisniparni, Tikta, Salmali niryasa and Ahiphena, finished with honey. It is indicated in all types of Arshas (hemorrhoids) and is specifically noted as beneficial for children.
