Jivantyadi Ghrita

Medicated ghee processed with Jivanthi decoction and Prapoundarika group herbs, indicated specifically in Timira (progressive vision loss).

Jivantyadi Ghrita — Overview

Jivantyadi Ghrita is a specialized eye-treatment ghee. The Kalka is drawn from Prapoundarika, Kakoli, Pippali, Lodhra, Saindhava, Satahwa, Madhuka, Draksha, Sita, Daru and the three Phala (Triphala). The liquid base is a decoction of 1 tula (100 pala) of fresh Jivanthi boiled in 1 drona of water reduced to one fourth, combined with two prastha of cow's milk.

Its single indication is Timira roga — the Ayurvedic category of progressive visual impairment that maps to conditions such as cataracts and early blindness. The ghee acts through systemic nourishment of the eye rather than local application.
