Hikkadihara Kashaya — Overview
Hikkadihara Kashaya is a set of decoctions for hiccough (Hicca), often along with asthma and cough. The first formula uses Agnimandha, Bala, Eranda, Bharangi, Kushta and Sunthi. A second preparation combines Dasamoola, Sunthi and Lasuna, administered with milk.
A third formula for severe hiccough in Yakshma (consumption) uses Kasamarda (Aaveer), Vacha, Bharangi, Yashtimadhu and Mustha, taken with Palakanji — a gruel prepared with milk. The formulas downward-regulate the upward-moving vata that produces hiccough.
