Gandhaka Rasayana
Purified sulphur-based rejuvenative used for skin diseases, abdominal tumors, hemorrhoids, and longevity.
Gandhaka Rasayana — Overview
Gandhaka Rasayana is a classical sulphur-based rejuvenative combining 6 pala of purified sulphur (Suddha Gandhaka) with Vidanga, Trikatu, Trijataka, Triphala, Rasna, Bakuchi, Bhringaraja, and Loha Bhasma. Ghrita, honey, and jaggery are added as vehicles and the formulation is administered in a dose of one Aksha (about 12 g), followed by a milk diet during digestion.
During the 40-day course, sour and salty substances are avoided. It is prized as a Deerghayurdayaka (longevity-giver), Jaranasaka (anti-ageing), and Drishti Vardhaka (vision-enhancer), and it is indicated in the eighteen types of skin disease (Kushta), the five types of abdominal tumor (Gulma), hemorrhoids (Arshas), and anemia (Pandu).
