Gandhaka Churna

A Kajjali-based preparation of purified sulphur and mercury processed with Kakamachi and Bhringaraja juice and mixed with Bakuchi powder, used for the eighteen types of Kushtha (skin diseases).

Gandhaka Choorna — Overview

Gandhaka Choorna is a sulphur-based preparation where one part of Gandhaka is steeped in Kakamachi Swarasa and Bhringaraja Swarasa for seven days each. An equal quantity of Parada is then added and pounded to form Kajjali, subjected to seven further Bhavanas with the same juices. Finally, equal Bakuchi Choorna is added, pounded with the juices, and rolled into pills.

The patient is kept on an exclusive milk diet during treatment. The formulation is classically indicated for the eighteen types of Kushtha (skin diseases), including leucoderma and other chronic dermatoses.
