Dhanvantari Gutika — Overview

Dhanvantari Gutika is named after the divine physician Dhanvantari and contains fourteen ingredients including Ela, Sunthi, Haritaki, Chameli, Brihati, Kiratatikta, Jeeraka, Sital chini, Bhunimba, Rudraksha, Devadaru, Karpura, Karigudha, and Mrigaretas in equal parts. Pills of 1 Masha size are prepared by pounding with Jeeraka and Chandana decoctions.

Administered with a decoction of Panasa leaf stalks, Bhunimba, and Jeeraka, it is a premier respiratory formulation indicated in asthma (Swasa), cough (Kasa), tuberculosis (Yakshma), hiccups (Hicca), vomiting (Chardi), excessive kapha secretion (Kapha Praseka), and it normalizes downward movement of vata.
