Chyavanaprasha Lehya

Classical rejuvenative electuary built on Amalaki and Dashamoola, indicated as a Rasayana for cough, asthma, wasting, and debility.

Chyavanaprasavalehya — Overview

Chyavanaprasavalehya is the classical Chyawanprash-type electuary built around 500 Amalaki fruits suspended in a Dashamoola-based decoction along with Jivaniya herbs such as Jivanthi, Draksha, Pushkaramoola, Guduchi, Riddhi, Jivaka, Rishabhaka, Kakoli, Meda, Vidari, and Vasa. The Amalaki pulp is fried in ghee and sesame oil, cooked with half a Tula of sugar candy (Matsyandika), and finished with Tugakshiri, Pippali, Twak, Ela, Patri, Kesara, and honey.

It is regarded as a premier Rasayana acting on cough (Kasa), asthma (Swasa), chest injury and wasting (Kshatakshina), heart disease (Hridroga), gout (Vatarakta), thirst, urinary and reproductive disorders. It promotes Medha (intellect), Smriti (memory), Kanthi (complexion), longevity, strength, digestive fire, and Vata-anulomana.
