Chitrakadi Ghrita
A medicated ghee made with Chitraka, Pippali, and pungent herbs used as a digestive stimulant.
Chitrakadi Ghrita — Overview
Chitrakadi Ghrita is a digestive medicated ghee centered on the pungent drug Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica). The paste contains Pippali moola, Chavya, Chitraka, Pippali, Nagara (Sunthi), and Maricha — a classical combination of pungent digestives.
The liquid medium is a four-fold Chitraka-Pippali moola-Putikaranja-Punarnava-Sunthi decoction with added milk. Its primary action is Agnideepaka — it kindles the digestive fire and is used in conditions of poor appetite and sluggish digestion.
