Balarishta
Fermented tonic of Bala and Ashwagandha used for severe neurological disorders, strength and nourishment.
Balarishta — Overview
Balarishta is a restorative fermented tonic prepared from equal parts of Bala (Sida cordifolia) and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), decocted in four drona of water, reduced to one-quarter, and fermented with jaggery, Dhataki, Payasya, Panchangula, Rasna, Ela, Prasarini, Devapushpa, Usira and Swadamshtra.
It is the classical remedy for severe neurological and musculoskeletal disorders (Ugra Vataroga) and is also prescribed to promote strength (Bala), nourishment (Pushti) and digestive power (Agni Vardhaka). It is widely used in post-natal care, convalescence, and degenerative vata conditions such as paralysis, sciatica and arthritis.
