Baladi Kashaya

A set of decoctions based on Bala, Jivanthi, Sariba, Usira and related herbs used for abdominal pain, bleeding and diarrhea in pregnancy.

Baladi Kashaya — Overview

Baladi Kashaya refers to a group of four preparations for pregnant women: (1) a decoction of Bala, Jivanthi, Sariba, Usira and Utpala with milk and sugar, (2) butter from unboiled milk with milk and sugar, (3) Mustha Kashaya, and (4) a decoction of Haritaki, Yavasa, Bilwa, Mustha, Hribera, Sunthi and Bala.

The first two address abdominal pain and bleeding in pregnancy; the latter two are indicated for diarrhea (Atisara) in pregnant women.
