Ashtapatra Taila

A medicated sesame oil prepared with eight leaf juices used for head and scalp disorders.

Ashtapatra Taila — Overview

Ashtapatra Taila is a medicated sesame oil prepared with the fresh juices of eight leaves — bilwa, karaskara (vishatinduka), bhringaraja, indravaruni, guduchi, nagavalli, patola, and amalaki — each taken as one prastha. Tila taila is used as the base (1 prastha) and milk (2 prastha) completes the vehicle.

It is indicated in Siroroga (disorders of the head and scalp), where the cooling and vata-pacifying combination of leaf juices supports a range of head-region complaints.
