Ashtakshari Gutika — Overview
Ashtakshari Gutika is an eight-ingredient pill formulation containing Ahiphena, Sweta and Rakta Chandana (white and red sandalwood), Ajaji, Hingula, Pippali, Hingu, Ativisha, and Rasna in equal parts. The drugs are pounded sequentially with seven different decoctions — Sunthi, Jeeraka, Dhanvayasa, Mustha, Yavani, Dhanyaka, and Jambeera juice — before being rolled into 1 Gunja sized pills.
It is administered with curd or honey up to five times daily based on digestive strength, and is indicated in malabsorption syndrome (Grahani), hemorrhoids (Arshas), and diarrhea (Atisara).
