Agni Kandadi Ghrita

A ritually prepared medicated ghee used specifically for the treatment of hemorrhoids.

Agni Kandadi Ghrita — Overview

Agni Kandadi Ghrita is a specialized medicated ghee for hemorrhoids (Arshas). The complex formulation uses a paste of Yashtimadhu, Devadaru, Sarjakshara, Indrayava, Tuttha, Kalajira, Ajamoda, Pippali, Bharangi, Suranakanda, Chitraka, and Aravi, along with snail flesh.

It is cooked with Narikela Taila and Mahisha Ghrita using a Chitraka-Sariba-Surana decoction, cow's milk, and rice-wash water. Traditionally, the preparation is begun on Krishna Chaturdasi, completed by Amavasya, and offered with prayers to Lord Dhanvantari.
