Agastya Rasayana

A classical rejuvenative formulated by Maharshi Agastya, used for cough, asthma, wasting, and as a rasayana tonic.

Agastya Rasayana — Overview

Agastya Rasayana is a classical rejuvenative said to have been formulated by Maharshi Agastya himself, and is considered one of the finest medicines for Rasayana therapy. It is prepared with Dasamoola, Swayamgupta (Kapikachhu), Sankhapushpi, Sathi, Bala, Hastipippali, Apamarga, Pippali moola, Chitraka, Bharangi and Pushkaramoola, cooked with Yava decoction along with 100 Haritaki fruits, ghee, oil, jaggery, Pippali and honey.

Administered in a dose of two Haritaki fruits, it combats wrinkles (Vali), graying (Palita) and promotes complexion, longevity and strength. It is indicated in the five types of Kasa (cough), Kshaya (wasting/TB), Swasa (asthma), Hidhma (hiccup), Vishama Jwara (intermittent fever), Gulma, Meha, Grahani, Arshas, Hridroga, Aruchi and Pinasa (chronic rhinitis).
