Abhaya Modaka

A pill formulation containing Haritaki, Trikatu, Trivrit and Danti with honey used for chronic fever, hemorrhoids, abdominal disorders and as a Rasayana.

Abhaya Modaka — Overview

Abhaya Modaka is a concentrated pill formulation where Haritaki (Abhaya) gives the preparation its name. It combines Haritaki, Maricha, Vidanga, Amalaka, Pippali, Pippali moola, Shunthi and Mustha (1 part each) with Danti (2 parts), Trivrit (3 parts) and sugar (6 parts), bound with honey and rolled into one-tola pills.

One pill is taken early in the morning with cold water — hot water is said to arrest its therapeutic bouts. It is indicated in chronic (intermittent) fever, weak digestion, anemia, cough, fistula-in-ano, hemorrhoids, skin diseases, abdominal tumor, goiter, giddiness, abdominal disorders, hyperacidity, splenomegaly, diabetic disorders, wasting, eye diseases, Vata disorders, bloating, urinary difficulty, urinary stones, heart disease and pain of the flanks, thighs, calves and abdomen. It is also praised as a Sreshta Rasayana.
