Samadhi

State of balanced cognition where body, mind and consciousness merge; the ultimate goal of Patanjali's yoga, representing spiritual liberation.

Samadhi and Awareness

Samadhi is a state in which objective, physical awareness is totally absorbed into subjective presence, into pure existence. In samadhi, one forgets the presence of the body. While deep sleep also involves forgetting the body, deep sleep is not samadhi — meditation transcends sleep into pure awareness.

The world is objective experience and samadhi is subjective experience. Ayurveda teaches that objectivity alone is limited; both objectivity and subjectivity are necessary for understanding. The meeting point where subjectivity merges with objectivity is called perception. Meditation brings into use the unused part of the brain, entering the inner space of the brain ventricles which is one with the vast outer space.
