Mental Essence

The state of a person whose mind is healthy, sane, compassionate, spiritual, and meditative — the essence of pure mental function.

Mano Sara — The Essence of a Healthy Mind

A mano sara person is one whose mind is healthy and sane — capable of looking at oneself without judgment, criticism, or listening to others. When the mind is sara (pure and healthy), it is in meditation, and such a mind has clarity that breeds compassion for all. Wherever such a mind goes, there is samadhi.

A mano sara person may not be conventionally intelligent or hold prestigious degrees, but their mind is sane, healthy, compassionate, spiritual, and meditative. A meditative mind can use logic with compassion — compassion being the fruit of meditation. Logic alone has no compassion and no wisdom, but compassion can use logic. According to Ayurveda, intellect and knowledge must be used with love. A mano sara person maintains a balance of the physical and spiritual worlds.
