Fetal Dhatu Development Sequence
The sequential maturation of the seven dhatus during fetal development, with one dhatu reaching maturity each month over seven months.
Fetal Development of the Seven Dhatus
From the kalala, the child's seven dhatus are manifested in sequence, reflecting the natural order of fetal development. The fetal rasa, rakta, mamsa, meda, asthi, majja, and shukra/artava are formed one after another.
Within the first month, rasa reaches maturity; in the second month, rakta; and in the third, mamsa. In this manner every tissue develops, so that within seven months all seven tissues reach maturity. Throughout this process, ojas, tejas, and prana maintain the nutritional transformation of immature dhatu into mature dhatu and are vitally important in the proper development of the fetus.
