Color Therapy
Ayurvedic treatment using vibrations of seven natural colors to establish balance of the three doshas
Color Therapy in Ayurveda
Ayurvedic treatments employ the healing properties of certain colors. The seven basic natural colors present in the rainbow are related to the bodily tissues and the tridosha. The vibrations of these seven colors may be used to help establish the balance of the three humors.
Preparation: If gelatinous paper of any of the seven colors is wrapped around a jar of water and placed in the sunlight for four hours, the water will become infused with the vibrations of the color. This water may then be taken internally with beneficial results.
Red: Related to the blood. Has a heating property, promotes red color of red blood cells and stimulates their formation. Creates heat in the body and stimulates circulation. Gives energy to nerve tissue and bone marrow. Relieves aggravated vata and kapha. Overexposure may cause excess pitta and inflammation, including conjunctivitis.
Orange: Like red, is warming and has healing energy. Helps the spiritual seeker to renounce the world. Gives energy and strength to the sex organs. Should be used in conjunction with celibacy to transform sexual energy. Helps to relieve aggravated vata and kapha.
