Overview
Vidanga (Embelia ribes, family Myrsinaceae) is a pungent and astringent herb with warm virya and pungent vipaka. It reduces Kapha and Vata (KV−) while increasing Pitta (P+). The fruit is the part used medicinally.
Vidanga acts primarily on the blood and fat tissues, working through the digestive and excretory systems. It is traditionally valued in Ayurveda for its actions on the digestive tract and its ability to cleanse the body of impurities through its pungent and warming properties.

Safety & Contraindications

Safety: No drug–herb interactions are known. Vidanga has been associated with damaging peripheral vision when taken at very high doses well above the normal therapeutic range.
Dosage & Combinations
Dosage: 1–15g per day or 3–15ml per day of a 1:3 @ 25% tincture.
