General properties of sour fruits (Amla Phala) described as a group. Sour fruits generally increase Pitta and Kapha, improve appetite, and are digestive. They should be used with caution in Pitta disorders. Excessively sour fruits can cause dental erosion, Raktapitta and skin disorders. The general rule is that moderately sour fruits are best.
